Tell us a bit about yourself and your fitness journey.

My fitness journey was standard at the start, lots of footy and basketball growing up, which naturally led me into the gym and running. But it wasn’t until high school that I really fell in love with fitness itself. One day you’re training for footy, the next you’re googling “how to get abs in 30 days” or “how to grow your biceps fast.”

Those were the early days, but over time my curiosity turned into a real passion. I ended up studying a Health Science degree and becoming a qualified PT, learning the actual science behind fitness and how to help others improve theirs properly.

How did the idea for Grow Club first come about?

Grow Club was born during COVID. Like a lot of people, I started posting on TikTok and Instagram and a couple of nutrition videos unexpectedly took off. At the time, I was working at Woolworths, so it was easy to tie fitness knowledge into food. For the OG followers, you might even remember “GROWcery Fitness,” which made sense since I was a grocery team member. But I realised that name capped the vision, no one really wants a hoodie that says “GROWcery Fitness” on it. That’s when Grow Club was born, something bigger and broader that could really grow with me.

What was the inspiration behind Grow Club?

Honestly, there wasn’t a single “lightbulb” moment. COVID was a time when everyone was experimenting with e-commerce, hoodies, limited drops, and online programs. I was buying heaps of hoodies from small Melbourne startups and loved the idea of creating something that was my own. At the same time, I’d built a small following around fitness and nutrition, so I thought, why not merge the two things I’m most passionate about: fitness and clothing. That’s how Grow Club became a mix of both.

Why do you think mental health is just as important as physical health?

Like many people, my fitness journey started because I lacked self-confidence in my teenage years. I was sporty, but I was never happy with how I looked or how I stacked up against others. And once you start seeing progress, you realise how much your self-worth can get tied to how other people see you. That’s where the mental side of fitness comes in. It’s not just about lifting heavier or looking better, it’s about feeling better. Mental health and physical health go hand in hand. One can’t thrive without the other.

Can you share your story with Headspace?

The Headspace collaboration started when I realised I loved designing hoodies with positive messages, but keeping all the profits for myself didn’t feel right. I reached out to Headspace Australia to get permission to use their logo and to set up a collaboration where 100% of proceeds go directly to them. The timing was perfect, because my football club also plays in a “Headspace Cup” each year, which is all about raising mental health awareness. That really pushed me to go all-in with the collab. At the end of the day, the motivation was simple. I wanted Grow Club to be more than just fitness and clothing. I wanted it to stand for giving back, spreading awareness, and supporting every aspect of health, not just the physical.

What small daily habits can help maintain good mental wellbeing?

For me it’s about the little things that stack up over time. Moving your body every day. Even if it’s just a walk, makes a huge difference. Eating food that fuels you, not just fills you, helps too. I try to get outside for some fresh air and sunlight, limit my phone time when I can, and check in with mates or family if I’ve had a rough day. Honestly, even doing one thing just because it makes you happy, with no productivity attached to it, is massive. Mental wellbeing isn’t about big, complicated fixes, it’s about consistency in the small stuff.

Where do you see Grow Club in 5 years?

I see Grow Club being so much bigger than just me posting workouts or dropping the odd hoodie. In five years I want it to be a real community. With its own events, more food options, more programs, and more collaborations with charities. I’d love for it to be a go-to brand for people chasing growth in every sense - physically, mentally, and socially. Basically, something people know they can trust to get fitter, feel better, and give back to the community at the same time.
